Congratulations to the 2025 Northwest Excellence in Journalism Award winners!

SPJ Oregon and SPJ Western Washington are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2025 Excellence in Journalism awards. Talented journalists across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming submitted more than 1,100 entries into the contest, one of the largest and most competitive in the nation.

Nearly 170 reporters, photographers, editors, producers, videographers, columnists and designers in Oregon and Southwest Washington won awards. We’ll be in touch in the coming weeks about trophies and certificates for the winners. Congratulations to all who won, placed or entered the contest — in a stressful year of nonstop news and media consolidation, Oregon journalists continued to produce important and meaningful stories that informed their communities and should be proud of their work.
